Cookie Policy

Effective date: 1 January 2025  ·  Last updated: 1 January 2025

This policy explains what cookies are, how Nepal Test Prep uses them, and the choices you have regarding their use on our platform.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners.

Cookies do not harm your device or contain personal information such as credit card details. They simply allow our website to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit.

2. How We Use Cookies

Nepal Test Prep uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and session storage) on our Platform for the following purposes:

  • To keep you signed in across pages during your session
  • To remember your preferences such as dark or light theme
  • To understand how you interact with our tests and learning content
  • To measure the effectiveness of our platform and identify areas for improvement
  • To prevent fraudulent activity and ensure the security of your account

5. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our Platform are set by third-party services we rely on. We do not control these third-party cookies and their use is governed by the privacy policies of the respective third parties.

Third-party services that may set cookies include:

  • Supabase — for authentication and real-time database services
  • Google Analytics — for anonymised usage analytics
  • Payment Processors — session cookies during checkout flows

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third parties for information on how they use cookies.

6. Managing and Disabling Cookies

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device and delete them individually or all at once
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Block all cookies from specific sites
  • Block all cookies from being set
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser

Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from using certain features of the Platform, including logging in to your account. Disabling analytics or preference cookies will not stop you from using the Platform but may affect your experience.

For guidance on managing cookies in your specific browser, please refer to your browser's official support documentation:

Chrome: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647 | Firefox: support.mozilla.org/kb/cookies | Safari: support.apple.com/guide/safari | Edge: support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge

7. Local Storage and Session Storage

In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage and session storage to temporarily store data such as test progress, draft responses, and UI state. This data does not leave your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly submit a test or action.

Session storage is automatically cleared when you close your browser tab. Local storage persists until cleared manually or by our application logic. You can clear both through your browser settings.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Currently, there is no universally agreed-upon standard for responding to DNT signals. Our Platform does not currently alter its behaviour in response to DNT signals, but we will monitor developments in this area.

9. Cookies and Children

We do not knowingly use cookies to collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our Platform, please contact us at csd@nepaltestprep.com so we can take appropriate steps.
